Forests Forever, Inc. continues to charter a Scouting America Troop (Troop 452) which has grown significantly since their beginning less than two years ago as a boys only troop. Now more than 20 strong the troop has been selected from over 1,000 applicants nationwide to pilot a Combined Troop experience where the boys and girls will collaborate with peers of the opposite gender through all the skill and leadership development that the Scouts BSA program (11-17yr olds) offers.
Learning to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse group prepares youth for future interactions in school and the workplace. These skills are invaluable as scouts grow into adulthood and navigate complex social dynamics.
Being based out of Hopkins Demonstration Forest gives the troop an amazing opportunity to be close to nature and learn about sustainable forestry practices in a one-of-a-kind setting. If you have someone interested in participating in Scouting America, give FFI a call.
