The Clackamas Co. Master Gardeners recently undertook a project to revitalize the garden growing in front of Everett Hall. The original native plant garden had become over-grown and needed some tender loving care.
Master gardeners Karen Day and Laura Eyer headed up the project. Laura is a professional landscape designer and created the new design for the garden.
Volunteers from Hopkins placed 5 feet of river rock around the perimeter of the building to provide a safety zone for fire protection. With guidance from Laura, the volunteers added dirt and boulders to the landscape and built a path through the garden area using compacted crushed rock.
CM Landscape was hired to install a sprinkler system, lighting for the path and planted over 85 plants in the new garden. A load of bark mulch was donated by Pacific Fibre in Molalla to help finish the project.
Master gardener Marianne Kahl and her husband Bob made a generous donation to purchase 4 beautiful stone benches and a bird bath for the new garden.
The final product is a beautiful garden addition to Everett Hall which will be cared for and maintained by the Clackamas County master gardeners.
