Walker Family Foundation Makes Huge Commitment to Education as 2024 Closes
The Walker Family Foundation, based in Milwaukie, made a huge financial commitment to Forests Forever and our education programs and facilities in December 2024. The Walker Family Foundation has been an Education Consortium member at FFI for the past 20 years. But, this past year, the Foundation committed $330,000 through 2026 with three priorities:
- Matching support for the new FFI Educator proposed to expand youth education and outreach in the Portland metro area ($100,000 donated in 2024).
- Funding to support the new Trails App being developed with additional applications to focus on youth education ($30,000 donated in 2024).
- Providing funding to develop facilities at the Schink Demonstration Forest at Dickey Prairie to create a site plan, permit, install infrastructure, and construct a pole building for storage and education use ($100,000 to be donated each year for 2025 and 2026).
According to FFI Executive Director Ken Everett, “The Walker Family Foundation has been a wonderful supporter for many years. We really appreciate their confidence and trust in us to grow our programs and provide new opportunities for youth and the community at our properties. These most recent Walker gifts will have a long-lasting impact on forestry and natural resource education in the Portland area for many years to come.”
We’d like to express our deepest gratitude to the Walker Family Foundation.
